Camper Co-ordination role on Oxford & District Mencap Committee

Could you be a Heroic Volunteer? Do you have some time to give to charity? Could you be part of creating something very special?

Each year in the glorious Oxfordshire countryside we run holidays for over 60 people with learning disabilities. We would like someone to help send out 60+ invites and collect in the responses to and from our guests.

What are the good parts of this job?

  1. We get a huge number of thank yous each year from the people we run the holiday for  - you will be part of our team and see the holidays in action every June, July and August
  2. Each year we send to nearly the same list, so if you’re organised it does not take too long
  3. The role is particularly busy from March to May when we send out and collect in the forms. The rest of the year it is not too taxing
  4. You can do the work in your own time, it’s not more than a few hours in the evenings and there’s always help available if you need it
  5. You get to work and help people with learning disabilities, their families and carers
  6. Oxford &  District Mencap is a fun and friendly place to do voluntary work – come and join us!

What do you need?

  1. Lots of enthusiasm, common sense and a sense of humour (well you don’t need the sense of humour but it helps!)
  2. Good communication skills – the ability to work with the families and carers of people with learning disabilities (previous experience not necessary)
  3. Good organisation skills
  4. Computer  -  we email out one third of the invitations
